KILLING HOLLY is wrapped!

Today was the last day of filming on the feature dark comedy KILLING HOLLY, and it went off great.
With only the final scene in the movie to shoot, we
had it done on time and I'm sure exactly what the
directors wanted.
I was damn happy to be a part of this thing, mainly because I was fortunate to meet some really great people and form some long lasting working relationships.
For a cast comprising of around 90% the female gender, it was very refreshing to not have a diva among any of them. Today was no exception with Joy and Anna, who came in like troopers to play some excellent Mexican hookers. We were in a sometimes disturbingly hot barn (turned bar) and not once did either of them complain about the heat. It was the exact opposite, in fact. I got to talk with Joy (Ingram) a bit and, I gotta say, it was too cool to hear her say she was just that excited simply to be on set. For portraying hookers with barely a line, and recently trudging through actors that would only "take lead roles", it was really great to hear someone say they were there for the love of the game.
It's something that can be overlooked very easily when you're running on no pay because it's a no/low budget shoot. It's easy to dismiss the quality of the product simply because you're not getting a buck in the bank, and it's sometimes just a passing conversation that brings you back down from that to make you remember why you got in this business in the first place:
Because you fucking love movies.
I got into it for that reason, and because I enjoy making people laugh. I'm glad to know that I can transition the latter onto someone else's set, too. Not to mention when people see you're having a good time, they'll want to join in too. When that happens, you've got a happy machine on your hands. Everyone working at the top of their game, and just enjoying it.
I love my job.
