The story of GARAGE FEVER

Here's a little back story regarding GARAGE FEVER, that will wrap with me bringing in the current news in casting.

GARAGE FEVER first started out as a small project that would star Chad Pallett and myself. The story remained the same, two drunken morons wake up in a garage that they've drunkenly locked themselves in the night before during a party. Chad and I (as well as most all of our friends) had made short after short, and I really wanted to make another 'no budget' feature. I also wanted to attempt the challenge of shooting an entire feature in 24 hours.
Plenty of people told me I was nuts for thinking it, let alone trying it. I was told I wouldn't find anyone that would work on the crew, no matter what.
That was fine to me, hell I love a challenge, plus Chad and I had been a virtual two man crew for years so what's the difference?

I wanted to shoot this sucker fast. I had a basic outline and we were to (as usual) improv the thing and see what we came up with.
As it sometimes goes, I started thinking. Thinking about how we could make a real movie on a shoestring and short schedule just the same. So I swallowed some pride (I'm sure some thought I'd wised up when I announced it wouldn't be a 24 hour project any longer, which was just the opposite) and called Chad to see what kind of time he could get off on short notice. This was in February and he wasn't able to take time off until July, so there it was. I've hated sitting on it for that long, but as I've said time and time again "More time will only have a positive impact on a production", and this was and is true.
Since then this movie has become the first part in a trilogy of comedies revolving around the last three days of the world. It started with TEMPORARY INK, which was originally about a group of slacker 20 somethings working in a tattoo shop on the last day of the world. Now that's part two to this triple dose of comedy awesomeness.

Currently the movie still stars Chad Pallet, but I've bowed out as his opposite so that I can focus on being behind the camera with our DP, Mason Compton. At first I felt bad about this, simply because it broke up our original idea: create an extended short with the both of us.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the better of the movie. To me it's not a sacrifice at all. I don't think I have the stomach to inflict myself as the star for a full 90 minutes. So, in my absence I cast Clifton Hall, who I'd worked with previously on my short DADE & ALEX ROB A BANK.
He had what I see in the character: an every man, a goofy schlub, but one with impeccable comedic timing. I've also enlisted the Taiwan commercial sensation Jae Mann, who is probably one of the wittiest women I've ever met.

We begin shooting July 8th, and will wrap on the 13th. I've still got a rocky pre-production road ahead of me, but it's okay. These are the rocky roads I love driving down. That's why I'm in this business, to do something I absolutely love.

I love to make people laugh. I hope you laugh with GARAGE FEVER when it's all over with.
